Trilogy Funds Managing Director

Trilogy Funds Executive Director
John is a co-founder of Trilogy Funds and Chairman of the Board’s Audit Committee, the Property Investment Committee, and the Treasury Committee.
Previously, John was involved in the establishment and ultimate growth of investment management firm, Challenger Limited (Challenger) which included the $3.5 billion Howard Mortgage Trust and a $2.7 billion international property portfolio. John was an Executive Director at Challenger on the lending committee and responsible for the Howard Mortgage Trust which grew to over $3 billion in FUM. As the former Head of Property, John was responsible for the structure and establishment of Challenger’s property backed long-term annuities.
Preceding Challenger, John worked in corporate finance at Morgan Grenfell Australia as well as serving as an Executive Director for Rothschilds Australia. Prior to Trilogy Funds, John established ABN AMRO’s reverse mortgage product and headed up its PPP social infrastructure division.
Trilogy Funds Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer
Justin is a Certified Practising Accountant, with extensive experience in senior positions within financial services, information technology, insurance and auditing. Leveraging his detailed knowledge and understanding of Trilogy’s product, Justin has developed comprehensive back-office systems which manage the group’s day to day operations, as well as the Scheme’s expected credit loss model. He is a long-standing member of the Lending, Workout, and Investment Committees and is committed to continuous improvement, prioritising results-driven and mutually beneficially outcomes for our broker and borrower clients.
Trilogy Funds Non-Executive Director
Rohan is a Non-Executive Director of Trilogy Funds and a member of the Lending Committee. With more than 30 years’ experience in construction and property development, Rohan brings to Trilogy Funds his experience working in quantity surveying, estimating, project administration, development management, planning and project management. At Trilogy Funds, Rohan’s key area of focus is the management of risk in the delivery of projects.
Rohan has been involved in several major projects within the residential, retail and commercial property sectors while undertaking a variety of senior appointments with major public and private companies. He is also a member of the Urban Development Institute of Australia.
Independent Lending Committee Member
Mark brings more than 50 years of diverse property, construction and finance experience to the Lending Committee. His experience ranges from quantity surveying through to managing budget and cost control procedures for major infrastructure projects and identifying and negotiating complex commercial projects. Most recently, Mark has acted in an advisory capacity assisting with planning, construction, and property projects in both the public and private sectors. Mark is active in the New South Wales, Queensland, ACT, Victorian, South Australian and Tasmanian construction markets.
Independent Lending Committee Member
An experienced Company Director, Grant has a wealth of experience in delivering revenue and profitability targets in challenging environments. After 24 years working with Knight Frank, 14 as Managing Director – Qld. Grant went on to establish Whittaker Property Group in 2015. Through Whittaker Property Group, Grant provides a range of bespoke property advisory services including portfolio review and analysis, asset management, risk management, compliance and investment structuring. Grant is a qualified Valuer, a Licensed Real Estate Agent, and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Independent Lending Committee Chair
David is a co-founder and former Director of Trilogy Funds and has over 40 years’ experience in property related lending and funds management. He has been a lending committee member of one of Australia’s largest pooled mortgage funds and has managed the negotiations for the acquisition of numerous Australian and global commercial property assets. David is currently the independent non-executive Chair of the Trilogy Funds Lending Committee.
Fund Manager – Trilogy Industrial Property Trust
Laurence has over 22 years’ experience in senior roles across the property investment industry, encompassing direct and listed real estate sectors.
Prior to joining Trilogy Funds, Laurence served as Chief Executive Officer of Eildon Capital Limited, an ASX-listed fund manager. Preceding this position, he was the Executive Director at Goldman Sachs and acted as Fund Manager of Industria REIT (ADI.ASX), focusing on commercial and industrial properties within the ASX-listed AREIT market. Further tenures include Credit Suisse and Citi, where he specialised in the AREIT sector; as well as APN’s Head of Private Funds, overseeing the management of four direct retail property funds and two wholesale direct property funds.
Laurence’s qualifications include a Diploma of Business Accounting, a Diploma of Financial Advising and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investment.
Manager – Property Funds
As Manager – Property Funds, Ryan plays a pivotal role in the growth and management of Trilogy Funds’ property investment trusts. He oversees the asset management team in the active and effective management of property assets to maximise investor returns.
Since joining Trilogy Funds in early 2021, Ryan has been instrumental in the generation of significant investment value, particularly within the Trilogy Industrial Property Trust.
Prior to joining Trilogy Funds, he worked as a director of a development and project management consultancy, focusing on assisting clients to unlock development potential through creative planning, design, and financial solutions.
Ryan is passionate about personal development, and the creation of value by facilitating an effective and collaborative team environment.
Head of Distribution
Since joining Trilogy Funds in 2017, Wyatt has been an integral member of the Trilogy Funds team. Over the years, Wyatt has embarked on several roles within the company, each of which has contributed to his extensive knowledge and diverse skill set.
Starting in the Investor Relations team in 2017, Wyatt quickly advanced to Private Account Manager for Wholesale Investors before being promoted to Manager – Investor Relations & Wholesale Investments in 2021. Through his various roles, Wyatt has gained invaluable experience and a deep understanding of the finance industry, attributing to his success in his current position – Head of Distribution. His experience working across several roles has allowed him to develop a holistic perspective and approach to driving growth and ensuring a seamless customer experience for Trilogy Funds’ stakeholders.
As Head of Distribution, Wyatt leads a team of 10, responsible for driving growth in Trilogy’s investment solutions for both retail and adviser divisions. Wyatt’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Finance, from Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
Wyatt’s exceptional career trajectory is a testament to his dedication and expertise in the finance industry. He continues to be a driving force in Trilogy Funds’ growth and success.
Head of People and Culture
Zoe joined Trilogy Funds in 2004 and brings to the team 17 years of experience in financial services, office administration and human resources.
Zoe is passionate about helping Trilogy Funds make the most of their resources and talent to deliver expert services to clients, through improving methods and technologies to better meet the ever evolving requirements of Trilogy Funds and it’s workforce and through developing company culture and employee relations.
Head of People and Culture
Aaron was appointed Head of Marketing in November 2022. He has been in the wealth management industry for over 25 years. With experience in investment research, product development and marketing roles across funds management, platforms, superannuation and advice businesses, Aaron has a solid understanding of how wealth-building products are taken to market. He has worked with a broad range of financial brands including ING, Colonial first State, Retireinvest and Count Financial. Aaron is passionate about delivering quality investment solutions to market, and elevating the voice of the customer at Trilogy Funds.
Operations Manager
Jordan has over a decade of Banking and Funds Management experience, across Operations, Finance, Project and Risk disciplines.
Since joining Trilogy Funds in 2019, Jordan has performed a number of key roles and has made significant accomplishments, including developing the Project Office and Operations Department, which she now leads.
Jordan is passionate about continuous improvement and optimising the experiences of internal and external customers. She has a particularly keen interest in delivering superior experiences and continous improvement through digital innovation and transformation and more broadly, technology and process improvement.
Jordan holds a Bachelors of Business (Finance) and Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer, Tyler is responsible for Trilogy Funds’ accounting and finance functions and oversees the financial reporting, tax compliance and key financial analysis.
Prior to joining Trilogy Funds, he worked at KPMG’s business advisory division and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Tyler has led the innovation and management of Trilogy Funds’ financial strategy across all funds. He also has strong financial industry experience from his career in chartered accounting firms, specialising in business advisory and corporate management.
General Counsel
Andrew joined Trilogy Funds in 2023 as General Counsel. With more than 25 years of legal experience in international financial markets in roles across the Asia Pacific region, Andrew brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the business.
Before joining Trilogy Funds, Andrew served as Head of Legal and General Counsel for global banking and financial institutions in Hong Kong and was General Counsel Treasury for the Treasury Corporation of Victoria. Prior to these roles, he honed his legal skills at top international law firms in New Zealand, Korea and Hong Kong.
In his role as General Counsel for Trilogy Funds, Andrew takes on the responsibility of managing Trilogy’s legal risks, while also providing crucial legal support to the company’s rapidly expanding operations.
Andrew is a qualified Australian lawyer as well as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.
Independent Non-Executive Director
Patrice is an experienced company director and has over 35 years’ experience in chartered accounting and commerce. Patrice has significant senior experience in listed and unlisted organisations across multiple industries including property, infrastructure, finance and government organisations. Patrice’s current and previous appointments include QBANK, City of Brisbane Investment Corporation, Sunwater and Acumentis.
Joining the Trilogy Funds Board of Directors in February 2024, Patrice brings a wealth of expertise along with strong networks in property, finance and government. Patrice holds a Bachelor of Business – Accounting, is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
Non-Executive Director
Rohan is a Non-Executive Director of Trilogy Funds and a member of the Lending Committee. Independent Non-Executive Chairman
Robert was appointed as the independent non-executive chairman for Trilogy Funds in 2009. He is a corporate adviser with more than 30 years’ experience as a professional listed public company director and chairman. A former senior partner of the law firm Mallesons Stephen Jaques (now King & Wood Mallesons), Robert holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the Australian National University and a Master of Laws degree from the University of Sydney.
As an independent non-executive chairman of Trilogy Funds, Robert draws on his extensive experience as a corporate lawyer and combined experience as a public company director and chairman, where he was mostly involved as an independent director with non-executive roles.
Non-Executive Deputy Chairman
Rodger is an experienced financial services executive with a successful career establishing and growing high-performing businesses spanning more than 40 years.
A founder of Trilogy Funds and a member of the Board’s Audit Committee, Property Investment, Lending and Treasury Committees, Rodger uses his extensive experience to add value to the Board and Executive in all aspects of Trilogy Funds’ investment, financing, property development, marketing and customer focussed initiatives.
Prior to establishing Trilogy Funds, Rodger was an Executive Director at Challenger, where he helped establish multiple ASX listed financial services companies, developed a property portfolio worth more than $2.7 billion, and was instrumental in establishing and growing Challenger Annuities to capture 30% of annuities sales in Australia. He was also Chairman of the Credit Committee at Challenger.
Prior to joining Challenger, Rodger worked at the Schroder Merchant Banking Group for 15 years where he was involved in all aspects of fund management including domestic and foreign fixed interest, direct property portfolios, management of equities, research and analysis and corporate finance.
Rodger is a Senior Fellow and Member of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and an Associate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Executive Director – Institutional Capital and Chief Risk Officer
As a key member of our respective Treasury and Compliance Committees, Henry holds a wealth of knowledge and experience across governance and risk management. From a client-focused point, Henry has engaged in product creation and innovation for a variety of investors. Further to this, he carries a lengthy, successful track record of originating and executing corporate transactions with onshore and offshore partners, combined with significant experience in fixed income asset management.
Leveraging his experience in driving strategic initiatives across business units within the financial services sector, and separately as a company director of several private companies, his ability to align business risk appetite with strategic growth initiatives across the Trilogy Funds group is unparalleled.
Henry provides oversight of Responsible Entities AFSL requirements and engagement with the regulators. This is achieved through the development and implementation of appropriate risk management measures, ensuring there are appropriate controls and governance across our internal business functions.
Executive Director – Lending and Property Assets
Clinton commenced as Head of Lending and Property Assets with Trilogy Funds in 2017. Since embarking on this role, he has been instrumental in pioneering the growth and strategic development of two of our key products, the Trilogy Monthly Income Trust, and the Trilogy Industrial Property Trust.
Clinton is our in-house project specialist, with expertise across risk management, structuring and financing, coordination and delivery, as well as work-out projects and disposals. Throughout his time at Trilogy Funds, Clinton has successfully championed many business operations. Specifically, Trilogy Funds’ nationwide expansion of its flagship mortgage fund, conducive to the growth and management of a $900 million construction loan book portfolio; as well as leading the acquisition strategy of the Industrial Property Trust from inception to an AUM of $250 million, across 5 Australian states and territories.
Further to his 30 years of proven experience in property development, project delivery and asset management across residential, commercial, and industrial projects, Clinton upholds a strong track record in team leadership, business development and direct client and media liaison across both lending and property divisions. He holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Australian Institute of Business, in addition to Certificate courses from the Securities Institute of Australia and London School of Economics. Above all, he is passionate about providing exceptional service to our developer clients.
Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer
Justin commenced with Trilogy Funds as its Chief Financial Officer in 2007 and was later promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2011. Justin is a company director of Trilogy’s private company’s and is the public officer for the group. Justin has a comprehensive understanding of Trilogy Funds’ systems and processes. His responsibilities include but are not limited to management of the group’s operations, with a particular focus on process improvement and automation to provide quality services to stakeholders.
Justin is a Certified Practising Accountant, with extensive experience in financial services, technology, auditing, and strategic planning. Additionally, he attains strong financial knowledge and oversight of the Responsible Entities AFSL requirements, including Trilogy Funds’ managed investment schemes. Utilising his vast knowledge of the statutory financial reporting requirements of the group and its managed investment schemes, Justin has attributed to the ongoing growth and operational success of Trilogy Funds, by implementing critical business systems and improvements. In doing so, he has been instrumental in providing the insights necessary to drive the business forward.
As a long-standing member of the Lending Committee, Workout Committee, and Investment Committee, Justin is passionate about continual improvement, through facilitating a supportive and collaborative company culture and searching for ways to improve how we provide services to our stakeholders. Prior to joining Trilogy Funds, Justin held various senior management roles within the financial services sector.
Executive Director
John has extensive experience guiding the strategic operations of some of Australia’s leading financial services companies.
As founder of Trilogy Funds and member of the Board’s Audit Committee, the Property Investment Committee, and Chairman of the Treasury Committee, John is a strategic thinker whose focus on identifying opportunities to add value for consumers and the business has seen him champion transformational change at Trilogy Funds. He is also a valued mentor for the Executive and other Trilogy Funds team members.
Previously, John was involved in the establishment and ultimate growth of Challenger into a broadly based financial services company which included the $3.5 billion Howard mortgage Trust and a $2.7 billion international property portfolio. John was an Executive Director at Challenger, Head of Property and responsible for the development of the Endowment Warrants-a precursor to Instalment Receipts and the structure and establishment of Challenger’s long term annuities. Prior to Challenger John worked in corporate finance at Morgan Grenfell Australia and Rothschilds Australia and was an Executive Director of Rothschilds Australia.
Prior to Trilogy Funds, John established ABN AMRO’s reverse mortgage product and headed up its PPP social infrastructure division.
John has also been the Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Westpac RE Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Westpac Banking Corporation.
Managing Director
As co-founder and Managing Director of Trilogy Funds, Philip is responsible for leading a cohesive and high-performing team across Trilogy Funds’ three offices, overseeing business compliance, and developing product offerings. He sits on the Board’s Audit Committee, Property Investment, Lending and Treasury Committees.
Philip has over 40 years of experience in the financial services industry, across financial planning and funds management. Philip has been a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia for more than 40 years and was previously a partner in a Brisbane Law Firm for 19 years, with experience predominantly in the areas of commercial and corporate law. For the past 25 years he has been the Managing Director for Trilogy Funds, including its predecessor responsible entity. In addition to qualifications in law, he is a fellow of Finsia and has qualifications at a post graduate level in financial services and mortgage lending through Finsia (and its predecessor the Securities Institute of Australia).
Philip leveraged his Legal and Financial Services qualifications as a founding director in 1998 of the funds management entity which evolved into Trilogy Funds. He is a key instigator of Trilogy Funds’ products, including the Trilogy Monthly Income Trust, Trilogy Enhanced Income Fund, Trilogy Industrial Property Trust and MDC Trilogy Wholesale Yield Fund I. Philip is passionate about creating financial products within the mortgage and property sectors that generate attractive income returns, as well as assisting younger generations to achieve their financial goals.
